The government has already taken a number of steps to combat tax avoidance in the temporary labour market: reviews of IR35; consultations into tax relief on travel and subsistence; changes to dividend taxation; preventing the use of salary sacrifice schemes to avoid tax and NI contributions and more.
What will this mean for contractors and freelancers?
If the proposed legislation discussed in the recent consultations are implemented, from April 2016 the entire contracting industry will see a whirlwind change come through. The changes which are just around the corner will affect every contractors work, how they get paid and how much they get paid.
Pom Chakravarti, Director of Bradleys Contractor division is going to be speaking at this year’s Business Show about 'keeping contractors and freelancers on the right side of HMRC', on 4 December from 11:45 – 12:15 at Seminar hall # 10. You will have the opportunity to directly engage with Pom about how you can continue contracting most tax efficiently.
Pom is the driving force behind the compliance and day-to-day running of the contractor division of Bradleys Accountants Ltd and also of Locums Umbrella Services, and he has worked with limited company contractors and umbrella workers for over 10 years. He ensures that we communicate the constantly changing UK employment and tax legislations to contractors and freelancers to help them stay compliant.
Bradleys Accountants is also exhibiting at the Business Start-up Show 2015, which is the fastest growing B2B exhibition in Europe, focused on improving and expanding the UK start-up ecosystem.
